Preschool at FaithWay

begins with joy, purpose, and truth.

In the earliest years, learning should feel natural, engaging, and meaningful. Our Preschool program blends structured academic readiness with hands-on exploration, helping students build confidence, curiosity, and foundational skills.

Through purposeful play, guided instruction, and opportunities in art, music, and physical activity, students grow socially, academically, and spiritually in a supportive, Christ-centered environment.

Students also participate in related arts each week, including music and library, giving them opportunities to grow creatively, explore new interests, and develop a love for learning beyond the classroom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Every day in preschool is thoughtfully structured to provide a balance of learning, play, and rest to help children feel secure while staying engaged and excited.

A typical day may include:

  • Morning welcome and circle time
  • Early learning activities (letters, numbers, readiness skills)
  • Learning centers and guided play
  • Music, movement, or library time
  • Snack and social interaction
  • Outdoor play and recess

Is my child ready for preschool?

Starting preschool is a big step for both children and parents. While every child develops at their own pace, most children are ready to thrive in our program if they are beginning to:

  • Follow simple directions
  • Participate in group activities
  • Communicate basic needs
  • Show curiosity and interest in learning
  • Begin developing independence (with guidance)

If your child is still growing in some of these areas, that’s okay. Our teachers are experienced in helping children adjust, build confidence, and develop these skills over time.

What will my child gain?

Our preschool program focuses on developing the whole child. Students build foundational skills in:

  • Early Literacy – listening, speaking, letter recognition, and beginning writing
  • Early Math & Thinking Skills – numbers, patterns, and problem-solving
  • Science & Social Studies Foundations – exploring the world around them
  • Motor Development – fine and gross motor skills through play and activity
  • Social & Emotional Growth – cooperation, confidence, and self-control
  • Confidence and independence in a structured setting

How do the teachers teach?

We believe children learn best by doing. Our teachers create engaging learning experiences that connect academic concepts with hands-on exploration.

Students learn through:

  • Hands-on learning and guided play
  • Structured instruction with room for discovery
  • Interactive lessons, music, and movement
  • Learning centers and guided play
  • Music, movement, and creative expression
  • Visuals, storytelling, and age-appropriate technology

We focus on building true understanding, not just memorization, so students are prepared for long-term success. Every child learns differently, so we use visual, hands-on, and movement-based activities to help each student grow at their own pace.

How do the teachers measure growth?

We thoughtfully monitor each child’s progress to ensure they are developing key skills and reaching important milestones.

Teachers assess growth through:

  • Observation and classroom interaction
  • Student participation and discussion
  • Hands-on activities and learning centers
  • Recognition of letters, numbers, and foundational skills

This allows us to support each child’s unique learning journey and celebrate their growth along the way.
